MMET is the largest forum of this sort in the Former Soviet Union (FSU). It is famous as an interface between the FSU and Western scientists and engineers in the broad area of modeling and simulation of electromagnetic fields, wave propagation, radiation, scattering, guidance, processing, etc. (see IEEE AP Magazine : #2-1992, #5-1995, #6-1996, ##4,5-1998, #3-2001, #2-2003, #3-2005.pdf). Characteristic feature of MMET is a stronger emphasis on the analytical and mathematical aspects of research into electromagnetics. Only oral presentations (invited and session ones) are solicited, and English is single working language.

Organizers: IEEE AP/MTT/ED/AES/GRS/NPS/EMB East Ukraine Joint Chapter, in cooperation with the Institute of Radio-Physics and Electronics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (IRE NASU), Ukrainian NC URSI, V. Karazin Kharkiv National University (KhNU), URSI, IEEE APS, MTTS and EDS.

Chairman of the Organizing Committee: Prof. Eldar I. Veliev, IRE NASU, Ukraine .
Co-Chairmen of the Technical Program Committee:
Prof. Alexander I. Nosich, IRE NASU, Ukraine and Dr. W. Ross Stone, IEEE APS.

Address for inquiries: MMET*06, c/o Dept. of Computational Electromagnetics, IRE NASU, ul. Proskury 12, Kharkiv 61085 , Ukraine . Tel: +380-57-720-3782, +380-57-720-3442 (MMET*06 Secretary), Fax: +380-57-315-2105, E-mail: mmet@mmet.org.

LFNM is a unique annual conference in Ukraine in area of optoelectronics and photonics. Conference accommodates invited, oral and poster presentations on all topics in the science and engineering of semiconductor, solid-state, and gas lasers, light beams and waveguides, broad-band photonic circuits, optical information storage and processing, new optical media including photonic crystals, metamaterials, and nanostructures, etc. (see IEEE LEOS Newsletters : #4-1999, #4-2000, $4-2001, #3-2004). LFNM has English as a single working language.

Organizers: IEEE LEOS Ukraine Chapter, in cooperation with the Kharkiv National University of Radio Electronics (KhNURE), KhNU, Guanajuato University, Mexico, IEEE LEOS and SPIE.

Co-Chairmen: Prof. Igor A. Sukhoivanov, KhNURE and University of Guanajuato, and Prof. Vasily A. Svich, KhNU, Ukraine .
Chairman of the Organizing Committee:
Dr . Vyacheslav A. Maslov, KhNU, Ukraine .

Address for inquiries: LFNM- 06, Quantum Radiophysics Dept., Kharkiv National University, pl. Svobody 4, 61077 Kharkiv, Ukraine. Tel : +380-57- 707-5157, E-mail: lfnm2006@univer.kharkov.ua

Venue: The both conferences will be held in the main building of the Kharkiv National University. Kharkiv is a 1.5-million city in the East Ukraine boasting more than 20 universities and a large number of research laboratories. Rich social program is expected. June weather is usually warm and sunny in Ukraine .

Important dates: submit 3-page paper drafts, by email, before March 20, 2006 . Final 3-page camera ready papers are expected by April 20, 2006, sent to the MMET or LFNM address. Invited papers will be given special instructions.

Notes:

  • No Ukrainian visa will be required for the citizens of the EU, Switzerland, Norway, the USA, Canada and Japan.
  • “Young scientists” are gentlemen younger that 36 and older than 70, and all ladies independently of the age.
  • To encourage participation in the both conferences of Electromagnetics and Photonics Week, combined registration fee will be discounted with respect to the sum of two registrations.
